Practice test Chs1-2

I completed the first practice test and realized I am in desperate need of some more extensive studying. I took it a couple more times to get a percentage of 100 and came to a slight dilemma. Even though 3 of my answers were correct they were listed as incorrect/ not graded. Maybe because they were the questions that required a written answer, I will just email the instructor with the results and explain what happened I suppose. Anyways here is the link to the results:

Context Clues Ch 1-4
After completing the chapters I realized my grammar is definitely slacking. I have an understanding of what the words mean but I definitely need to study much much more. As well as buy a dictionary ha ha.

Intro to Critical Reading

In this College Critical Reading class we are expected to do a service project on an issue we feel strongly about. The issue I have chosen is in regards to stay at home mothers and the challenges they face on a daily basis. These issues include: having to live off of a single income, fatigue, isolation, stress and the never ending chores on top of countless others. I have decided to choose this issue because not only is it one I deal with day in and day out but also because I may be able to learn how to deal with it better by understanding different circumstances. I am planning to use my own family to learn about because I have not been able to find a non-profit organization that associates with these challenges.

I believe that giving credit for the work of others that you use to complete you assignments is very important. Not only because you are stealing from them if you do not but also because I know that no one would want someone to take credit for something they worked hard on.

In my opinion critical reading involves trying to put yourself in the writers shoes, so to speak. You have to read into the piece and try to understand what the words are saying, doing beyond the literal definition. When you read critically you try to find the authors purpose for the writing as well as whether they were biased, trying to persuade a certain side of an argument etc.
